DETERMINED to continue improving access to quality healthcare services at the community-level, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Cavite Municipal Hospital in Maragondon, Cavite, on Thursday, August 8.
“Isang malaking karangalan ang maging saksi sa pagpapatayo ng bagong ospital dito sa Maragondon. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga taong nasa likod ng pagpupursiging maging realidad ang ospital para sa mga taga-Maragondon, lalo na ang mga lokal na opisyal ng Cavite,” Go said in his speech.
This project is supported by Go as vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance and Chairperson of the Senate Health Committee. He commended the collaborative efforts of the local and national government for the said hospital, emphasizing that this is in line with his advocacy to provide accessible and quality health care in all regions of the country.
“Karapatan ng bawat Pilipino ang magkaroon ng isang mabisa at disenteng healthcare service sa bansa para mabuhay sila na malusog at maayos,” Go explained.
“Kaya itong ospital na ito, naniniwala akong maraming taga-Cavite at mga malalapit na mga syudad at munisipalidad ang matutulungan nito,” he added.
Aside from being an adopted son of CALABARZON region with familial roots in Batangas being part of the Tesoro clan, Go was recognized during his visit as an adopted son of the Municipality of Maragondon through Resolution No. 548-24, passed by the Sangguniang Bayan for this continued support and service for the Filipino people.
Senator Go then thanked the local government of Maragondon for their trust and unwavering dedication to making government services beneficial for all, especially Mayor Lawrence Arca, Vice Mayor Bernie Ilagan, and the local councilors of Maragondon. He also extended his appreciation to his fellow public servants, mentioning Congresswoman Aniela Tolentino, Governor Jonvic Remulla, Vice Governor Athena Tolentino, and Magallanes Mayor Jasmine Ligaya, who were also present during the event.
Mayor Arca expressed his gratitude the senator for his support in Maragondon.
“Ako’y nagpapasalamat kay Senator dahil nung tayo’y nag request (ng pondo), nabigyan niya agad tayo ng pondo para sa hospital na ito. Kaya sa ating Senador, maraming salamat sa tulong mo.”
Additionally, Go mentioned the Malasakit Center Act of 2019, institutionalized under Republic Act No. 11463, which he principally authored and sponsored. This is a one-stop shop where the DOH, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Philippines Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) are housed under one roof to provide convenient access to medical assistance programs for all Filipinos, especially indigent patients.
In Cavite, Malasakit Centers are located at General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires City and Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Bacoor City.
Additionally, Go advocated establishing Super Health Centers nationwide to bring primary care, consultations, and early disease detection closer to communities.
Through the concerted efforts of Go, fellow lawmakers, the DOH, led by Secretary Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, and local government units, adequate funding was allocated for establishing more than 700 Super Health Centers nationwide, including nine in Cavite.
“Napaka importante po ng kalusugan kung kaya’t ginagawa natin ang lahat ng ating makakaya upang makapagbigay ng mas mabilis, maayos at maaasahang serbisyong medikal, kahit saan mang parte ng bansa,” Go said.
Moreover, across Cavite, a diverse array of infrastructure projects were supported by Go, such as the rehabilitation of covered courts in various barangays in General Trias City; construction of the bypass road; acquisition of ambulance units for the local government of Indang and Trece Martires City; and improvement of a sports facility in Cavite State University in Indang.
“Para sa amin, ang serbisyo sa kapwa ay serbisyo sa Diyos kaya ipagpatuloy lang natin ang ating pagtutulungan at bayanihan sa pamamagitan ng pag-angat ng mga serbisyong medikal dito sa bansa,“ he ended.
On the same day, Go also aided various impoverished residents in Maragondon.
